EINSTEIN MEETS THE MOUSE MEISTER
What would Walter do?
Walt Disney, that is!
The ‘Mouse
Meister’ divided goal achievement into 4 parts.
Enjoy this combination of Disney’s strategy and coaching, guided with an
Einstein quote, “You cannot solve a problem using the same level of thinking
that was used to create the problem.”
So…
First, know your desired goal. Be specific and write down behaviors and
skills necessary to complete your goal.
Second, explore the long term effects of reaching your
goal. Ask, “Why do I want this- what
will it get me?” Identify values and
criteria satisfied by achieving this goal.
Third, identify blocks.
Answer the question, “What stops me?”
This includes attitudes, beliefs, AND skills.
Fourth, find the cause of the block. Ask, “WHY does this block stop me from
fulfilling my dream?” “Is there
anything so important to me that I would
not give it up, even if I reached my goal?”
Identify values, beliefs, or criteria that conflict
with your goal.
Now remove blocks one at a time.
1. Identify a personal resource that, if present, would eliminate the CAUSE of your block. Patience?
Resourcefulness? Acceptance? A new skill?
2. Create a ‘symbol’ for that
resource and keep it with you as you VIVIDLY imagine having that resource in
place, doing the things that move you towards your goal. Exaggerate how it is for you, now, with that
resource in place with sights, sounds, and physical/emotional feelings.
3. Check for hidden sabotage. Ask, “Is there a deeper motivation, stronger
than the cause of my block AND for having what my
goal will get for me?”
if so, repeat the procedure,
accessing needed resources to eliminate each block.
